Say hello to your inner bard during National Poetry Month

The celebration for National Poetry Month each April began in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets.

Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture.

Are you ready for Pi Day?

If you recognize the number or symbol in the graphic, then you might be among those who will be looking forward to March 14 when National Pi Day is celebrated. 

March 14 is Pi Day, a day to celebrate the mathematical constant pi (π) (and to eat lots of pie).

Great news for the creatively gifted, and for those who don’t consider themselves such.  March is National Craft Month!

What a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of all the Jasper County Libraries offer in the way of materials to stoke those creative juices.

Books and magazines abound with all manner of ideas, and all ages are served in this genre.

What do we celebrate in February?

On the third Monday in February, dating back to 1885, we celebrate a federal holiday called ‘Washington’s Birthday’.  Many people refer to the day as ‘President’s Day’, but that is not the official name.

IRS: Identity thieves are on the prowl

Identity theft can happen at any time of year, warns the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), but tax season sees a definite surge in attempts.

The IRS has joined with representatives of the software industry, tax preparation firms, payroll and tax financial product processors and state tax administrators to combat identity theft refund fraud to protect the nation's taxpayers.

Jan 28 is Data Privacy Day - Time to Defend your Right to Privacy

January 28 is National Data Privacy Day and The American Library Association is rallying Americans to defend their Right to Privacy in a Digital Age by encouraging Americans to take charge of their private information online.

In 2017, Enjoy Books Worth Melting For at your library

You don’t have to wait for the January thaw to read a good book and ‘melt’ right into it!

The Rensselaer Library invites adults to read books, magazines, e-books, audio and e-audio books during the winter months, and enter their name in a drawing for weekly prizes as well as a grand prize drawing at the end of the program.

Snapping, Mapping, and Rapping in Jasper County: A Bicentennial Celebration

The Jasper County Public Library is partnering with CDC Resources, Inc. to celebrate our state’s bicentennial.

This project allows interested CDC clients to learn the fundamentals of photography, take photographs of Jasper County features, and display their work in a library photo exhibit in December 2016 in celebration of Indiana’s bicentennial.
