The artist surrounded by her photographs

The DeMotte Library is proud to display the photography of Bailey Allen for the months of November and December. Her current display is a series she calls "Home Sweet Home," which pays homage to our homeless veterans.

Depending on who you ask, the definition of the word “home” may vary greatly. This series depicts what the word home means to many in the homeless community, as well as US Veterans who find themselves homeless and struggling with the after effects of service. These images were captured throughout various locations in Indianapolis. This series hopes to raise awareness of homeless veterans living among us.

Ms. Allen found her niche in the art world while attending Concord High School in Elkhart, Indiana. She has always had a passion for art, but was inspired and encouraged by the art department at Concord in her junior year to continue her love for photography. Bailey grew up in Elkhart, Indiana, and attends Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis.
