Volunteering at your library for summer reading is rewarding and offers the chance to acquire valuable work experience, as well as a fun way to spend time with children.

The Rensselaer Library is seeking young adults who are interested in becoming volunteers this summer. Teens age 11 and up who are interested in volunteering at the library during the summer are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, May 24  from 2-3 pm in the library’s Story Time Room.

Teens in attendance may pick up a schedule and learn more about the library’s Volunteer Program.

Teens who have not volunteered previously during the library’s Summer Reading Program must attend this meeting or call Volunteer Coordinator, Melissa Widner, at the library to make other arrangements. For more information, visit or call the Rensselaer Library, (219) 866-5881.

The DeMotte Library is seeking teen volunteers to help during our Summer Reading Program, scheduled to begin in June. Open to ages 11-17, teens interested in volunteering this summer are invited to attend a Volunteer/Teen Advisory Meeting on Thursday, June 2 from 4-5 pm.

This meeting will provide an overview of the Summer Reading Program and how our volunteers can help the Children’s Department and staff to make our program a success.

Registration is required to attend. To sign up, visit or call the DeMotte Library at 987-2221.
