Besides the two most recognizable days we celebrate in May, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, there are two more very important days: Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Armed Forces Day.



 

April is National Autism Awareness Month, but for many families it is Autism Awareness every month.

So this is a good time to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance, and to draw attention to tens of thousands of families facing an autism diagnosis each year.

March is National Women’s History Month, a chance to learn about and celebrate some of the many achievements and contributions women have made throughout history.

Did you ever wonder how our county chose its name?

When Indiana was being divided up and organized into counties, they often chose to honor Revolutionary War heroes.  On March 15, 1838 our county was named after Sergeant William Jasper.

Monday, Jan. 29 is the first day the IRS will begin accepting tax returns in 2018. The nation’s tax deadline will be Tuesday, April 17 this year – so taxpayers will have two additional days to file beyond April 15.

In honor of Jasper County military veterans, Kyle Eenigenburg has presented each branch of the Jasper County Public Library with a binder detailing military veterans buried in Jasper County cemeteries.

No one wants to think about the unthinkable, but that is exactly what National Preparedness Month (ready.gov) is encouraging us to do.  The idea is to be prepared for the “worst case scenario.”
