April 2013 means spring has finally come to the area. What spring activities can you get involved in?

It's Math Awareness Month. Why didn't the quarter roll down the hill with the nickel? Because it had more cents. Discover something amazing about math today at the library.

April is Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month. Visit the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and  learn about its "Go Orange" campaign

National Library Week is April 14-20. The theme this year is Communities Matter @ Your Library. Stop in and let us show you why! Special events are happening at all library locations!

Screen Free Week is April 29-May 5. Check out our page for fun events you can do all week instead of using a television or computer.

April 3 is the birthday of primatologist Jane Goodall. A primatologist is someone who studies monkeys, chimpanzees and gorillas. Visit her website, the Jane Goodall Institute, to learn about her latest projects around the world.

April 12 Beverly Cleary, author of Beezus and Ramona and The Mouse and The Motorcycle, and many other children's books, was born this day.

April 12 Visit the DeMotte Library from 5-7pm for SPRING FEST. Enjoy games, food and family activities at low, low prices.

Visit the library's booth at the annual Earth Day program on Saturday, April 20  from 9am-2pm at Brookside Park in Rensselaer.

April 24 is Astronomy Day! Check in with Curiosity, the Mars rover, or check out a book about space.

April 25 is Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. If you don't already know, find out what your mom and dad do for a living.
