Judy Crawford maintains a studio and gallery near her home in DeMotte. She executes works in oils, pastel, pencil and charcoal. Her portraits, figurative works and still lifes include many commissioned pieces created for public spaces and private clients, with her paintings and drawings owned by collectors throughout the country.
Crawford's goal is the creation of 3 dimensional forms on the canvas or paper through the use of directed light cast on the subject. The dialectics of light to dark, opaque to transparent areas, vibrant to muted colors, and hard to soft edges are key elements.
The artist is a signature member of both the Hoosier Salon and the Indiana Artists' Club. Crawford's work has been regularly included in the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibits, Indianapolis, IN and exhibited in the 83rd Indiana Artists' Club Juried Exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art. Her work has been a part of the Butler National Midyear Exhibit, Youngstown, OH; the Fort Wayne Biennial; the Evansville Mid-States Exhibit; the Elkhart Regional Exhibit; the Greater Lafayette's Art Museum; the National Women's Exhibit in Woodstock; Chesterton Art Gallery's ARTCOMP; Minnetrista in Muncie; the Juried Art Barn Annual in Valparaiso and the South Shore Annual Salon Show in NW Indiana. The artist has had twelve solo shows along with many group exhibits in various galleries throughout Indiana and the country.
She sells a variety of artwork out of her home gallery as well as several galleries throughout the state.
Crawford's work is included in Lafayette's 2016 Indiana Now Exhibit which opens this month in conjunction with the statewide celebration of the bicentennial.
