July is packed with things to do!
There’s so much going on July within the region, there should be no reason to feel bored!
Of course Independence Day is on the 4th, with fireworks, parades, and barbeques. Check out Meg Geddes’ Fireworks In Indiana website to find a fireworks display near you all year long.
July 5 is Cruise Night in Rensselaer. Come see the JC Cruisers 29th Annual car show at Brookside Park, followed by the cruise through town at 6pm. The Little Cousin Jasper Festival is also sponsoring an all-ages Sock Hop at the Brookside Park tennis courts from 8-10pm that night.
EDIT: The South Shore Air Show, sponsored by nearby Fair Oaks Dairy Farms, originally scheduled for July 11-13 has been cancelled.
The Jasper County Fair runs July 12-18, with mud drags, rodeos, motocross racing, and a demolition derby; the Newton County Fair is scheduled July 14-19, and country star Josh Turner will be singing in concert on July 15!
On July 26 stop by Potawatomi Park in Rensselaer for the new Prairie Arts Council Summer Festival: Rock the Arts. Interactive art, live national touring musicians, art fair, and food come together for this one-day event. Entry is free.
On top of all that, don’t forget that Summer Reading at the libraries will also be continuing into July, with weekly drawings and prizes, weekly events, and parties to conclude the programs.
Can summer get any better?
