RHS Class of 1942 celebrates Platinum reunion

A lot of people have stopped into the Rensselaer Library this past month to see the display for the Rensselaer High School Class of 1942.

On Saturday, June 9, at SJC's Halleck Center, the Rensselaer Alumni Association will celebrate several reunions this year for classes from 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 2002 and 2012.

Time is on your side with our longer loan limits

In June we are launching new circulation rules that we think will be welcomed by patrons of all ages. We are extending loan limits and renewals on some of our most popular materials just in time for the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

Jasper County Trails

If you have imagined a Jasper County full of walking, horse and bike paths, you are not alone.

This spring, representatives of Jasper County Economic Development, the National Park Service and the Northwest Indiana Regional Plan Commission held public meetings around the county to solicit input from citizens as to where and what those paths might look like.

Thanks to our library volunteers

Hundreds of volunteers help out at events all year long at our local libraries. Thanks to their efforts, we are able to make all of the programs and services we offer stretch a little bit farther and look a little bit brighter.

100 years ago

It was just four days ago (give or take a century) that the RMS Titanic set sail from Ireland, headed for the White Star docks at New York City.

Of course, we know the Titanic never completed its maiden voyage across the Atlantic. It was 100 years ago this morning (April 15) that the ship met its tragic fate and became one of the most famous sea voyages in history.
